Janet Willet from the corn head team and a friend of Christine's from Moline was down the past couple of weeks. We went to visit Salto do Youcama waterfalls which did involve a couple of hours on rocky roads and one flat tire with a damaged rim, but we made it and here are some pictures from there. It is the widest waterfall in the world.
Carnival started last night (Friday) and it is a time when all Brazilians party. We went downtown to watch the festivities. People form blocks with their friends and dress up in "ridiculo" clothes - all the block wears the same clothes, then they go downtown where there is a band and loud music. We stayed until about 11 when things were just starting to pick up... we could still hear it at our house 3+ blocks away at 4am. I guess it's pretty tame in Horizontina compared to other places in the country.
In case you missed it, ESPN ran a story on Horizontina for insight into the Super Bowl....
We hope that all is well and the cold weather and snow leave you soon.
Jeff & Christine
