On the Gehling Farm

I haven't been home much these days because my new job at Wells Fargo is keeping me in Des Moines almost all week. But I thought I would attempt to update you on what is happening on the Gehling farm.

Nick has been busy combining and finished up beans last week. He is working on corn now and the combine seems to be cooperating. Nick finished up painting all three buildings around our house last weekend - the summer kitchen, the garage and another building that I'm not sure what it is for - and it looks awesome.

We have been offered the opportunity to buy the land around our house (150 acres) and I think we are ready to invest. We are doing some research on the best way to set this up and hope to come up with a solution soon. We plan to put the house in Madrid up for sale to hopefully sell sometime in 2008 so that we can put that toward this purchase.

Our puppy Charlie is doing well. He has trouble jumping into the back of the truck, but really likes to be at Nick's parents house since they have a dog to play with. We take him over there when I am gone and Nick is at work. He is very good at fetch, but doesn't like to give the toy back when he returns. He likes to turn it into a game of keep-a-way.

I am planning to head to Winterset this Saturday for the Covered Bridge Festival (remember the movie "The Bridges of Madison County?") and it should be a nice event. The weather was sure cold here this morning and I had to wear a coat for the first time today.

Other than the excitement of the land and my new spot at Wells Fargo, not much is new. Let us know what is happening with you!

Love,
Kim & Nick
